Highlights from our month travelling around Scotland. From Loch Lomond and Loch Ness to the North Coast 500 and Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides – an island full of captivating scenery.
Iceland Road Trip – Part 5: South Iceland
The south of Iceland is full of the epic scenery that is the drawcard for this country. Glaciers, silky waterfalls and misty mountains. Our travels had taken us around the island to the town of Höfn, and now it was time to explore the south as we slowly made our way back towards Reykjavík.
Iceland Road Trip – Part 4: East Iceland
Part 4 of our road trip around Iceland. We spent time in the East fjords. Artsy towns, peaceful villages, mountains, auroras, waterfalls and fjords.
Iceland Road Trip – Part 3: Northern Iceland
There is a lot to see in the north of Iceland. A lot of diversity. Many tourists, especially those short on time, head for the south, which is rich in glaciers, waterfalls, black sand beaches and geothermal sites. However, the north definitely should not be overlooked. Misty mountains and fjords, volcanic craters and twisted lava sculptures, canyons, waterfalls, birch forests and even a desert.
Iceland Road Trip – Part 2: The Westfjords
Part 2 of our Iceland roadtrip takes us into the remote Westfjords. Crystal blue water, steep gravel roads, unassuming farms and sheep grazing by the road, waterfalls and hot pools. A place perfect for slow travel and quiet contemplation.
Iceland Road Trip – Part 1: Snæfellsnes Peninsula and a taste of the highlands
A month in Iceland. Five of us smooshed into a small campervan with the most basic of possessions as we followed a loose itinerary to travel clockwise around Iceland’s ring road, detouring here and there as our whims or needs required. This is Part 1 of our adventure – the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and a taste of the highlands.
Buffalo Wandering
Mt Buffalo is a magnificent and sacred mountain, and one of my favourite places to explore. On a recent mini-break I was lucky to spend two glorious days chasing waterfalls, clambering around granite outcrops and breathing in the fresh mountain air. There’s so much to do, and something for all nature lovers at Mt Buffalo.
Wild South Coast Way on the Heysen Trail
The Wild South Coast Way on the Heysen Trail – a mum, a 10 and 6 year old spend six days bushwalking along this captivating coastline.
Bruny Island – bushwalks and yummy treats
A short visit to Bruny Island where we ticked off two of the ‘Short Walks’ and indulged in some of the food that Bruny is so famous for. The Fluted Cape walk is a 2-3 hour circuit from Adventure Bay, with sheer dolerite columns and views towards Kunanyi (Mt Wellington). The full-day Labillardiere Circuit walk provides an opportunity to really get away from it all and experience a truly picturesque and peaceful part of Bruny.
Takayna (Tarkine) – Road tripping Tasmania’s west
A family road trip through Tasmania’s west. We visited rainforests, waterfalls, lakes, rugged coastlines, remote towns and shack communities. A time to unwind and rejuvenate in a beautiful and less travelled part of Australia.
